Advisory Board
In 2019, the Board of Directors formed an Advisory Board to provide thoughts, advice, and non-binding recommendations to our Board. Members of the Advisory Board may include potential future Board members, former Board members, and other individuals whom the Chairman & CEO determines may be able to provide valuable insight.
Brian E. Keeley
Mr. Keeley was appointed to the Advisory Board in April 2022. He previously served as a Watsco director from 2018 to 2022. Mr. Keeley was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Baptist Health South Florida, Inc. (“Baptist Health”), the largest not-for-profit healthcare organization in South Florida, with 12 hospitals, a network of more than 100 outpatient facilities and physician practices, and one of the nation’s largest international programs from 1986 to 2022. Under his leadership, Baptist Health implemented transformational technologies throughout its organization and has been rated among Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” in America. Mr. Keeley is a former member and board chair of the Miami Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.
Matthew A. Love
Mr. Love was appointed to the Advisory Board in November 2021. He is President and Chief Executive Officer of Nicklaus Children’s Health System, parent organization of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, a nationally recognized nonprofit pediatric specialty hospital based in Miami. Mr. Love possesses more than 25 years of experience in financial and operational oversight in both adult and pediatric healthcare systems. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
John A. Macdonald
Mr. Macdonald was appointed to the Advisory Board in June 2024. He previously served as a Watsco director from 2021 to 2024 and served as a member of our Advisory Board from 2019 to 2021. As the first employee and long-term CEO of Enercare, Inc., he demonstrated his entrepreneurial capabilities by building the company into one of the largest and most innovative home services providers in North America. Today, Mr. Macdonald serves as Chairman of Parity, Inc., a Toronto-based software company focused on reducing carbon emissions for multi-tenant buildings.
Bob L. Moss
Mr. Moss was appointed to the Advisory Board in June 2023. He previously served as a director from 1992 to 2023, excluding a brief hiatus between 2012 and 2014. As a dynamic leader, Bob has successfully built two leading construction businesses over the past 50 years. As the founder, Chairman, and CEO, he has turned Moss & Associates LLC into one of the largest general contractors in the Southern United States. Previously, Bob was Chairman and CEO of Centex Construction Group where he spent 23 years building Centex into the largest domestic general building contractor in the nation.
Alan H. Potamkin
Mr. Potamkin was appointed to the Advisory Board in November 2022. He previously served as a Watsco director from 1994 to 2000. Mr. Potamkin is President and Chairman of Potamkin Companies, one of America’s largest privately held auto dealerships. He has various real estate holdings, and previously was the owner of several broadcast licenses. Presently, the majority of Mr. Potamkin’s time is spent working with Kristi House, Miami-Dade County’s Children’s Sexual Abuse Center.
Troy Rice
Mr. Rice was appointed to the Advisory Board in June 2021. He is President of FPL Energy Services, a subsidiary company of NextEra Energy, Inc., a leading clean energy company and a provider of value residential, commercial and public-sector products and services. NextEra Energy is the parent company of Florida Power & Light, the largest rate-regulated utility in the United States as measured by retail electricity produced and sold. Mr. Rice joined NextEra in 2002 and has held a number of leadership positions throughout his career.
Steven (Slava) Rubin
Mr. Rubin was appointed to the Advisory Board in March 2024. He previously served as a Watsco director from 2018 to 2024. He is the Managing Partner of humbition, an early-stage venture fund, and is also the co-founder of Vincent and Indiegogo, Inc. Mr. Rubin is a graduate of The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Gary L. Tapella
Mr. Tapella was appointed to the Advisory Board in February 2022. He previously served as a Watsco director from 2006 to 2010. He is an Operating Partner of One Rock Capital Partners, LLC, a value-oriented, operationally focused private equity firm with $5 billion of capital commitments. Prior to joining One Rock he was an Operating Partner at Ripplewood Holdings, LLC from 2005 to 2009. Mr. Tapella retired from Rheem Manufacturing Company in 2005 as President and Chief Executive Officer following a 36-year career with the company. His experience there included managing Rheem’s Canadian and Singapore based pan-Asian companies and he served as Senior Vice President International and Chief Operating Officer.
William W. Wilson III
Mr. Wilson was appointed to the Advisory Board in November 2024. He has served as Chairman and CEO of RefocuX Inc., since December 2004. He is also a partner at Tri-Tech Construction, a luxury home builder in South Florida. Over his career, he held various leadership positions in the commercial insurance and software industries. He presently serves as a board member of Baptist Health South Florida, where he has held various leadership roles since 2013, including Chair of the Baptist Health Foundation.
Michael Zinner, M.D.
Michael Zinner, M.D., was appointed to the Advisory Board in June 2024. He is Chief Executive Officer & Executive Medical Director of the Miami Cancer Institute and Baptist Health Cancer Care, part of Baptist Health South Florida, Inc. He is a nationally recognized cancer surgeon and researcher. Dr. Zinner received his M.D. degree from the University of Florida and completed his surgical residencies at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes in Baltimore.
